A6 Randalstown - Castledawson Dualling Scheme

Delivered by the Department for Infrastructure the A6 Dualling Scheme will upgrade 14.7 kilometres of  Transport Corridor between Randalstown and Castledawson, a route used by 20,000 vehicles each day, which often experiences congestion at key times.

Graham Farrans Joint Venture have been awarded the contract of this essential work, which once completed, will bring long term social and economic benefits to the local area.

The flagship investment of £185m will strengthen the links between Belfast and Derry/ Londonderry and will bring the long term benefits to road users and the local community of reduced journey times and improved road safety.

Work is being carried out on an area based construction programme and is expected to be completed by 2021.

  • A6 Mainline Closure from Hillhead Road - Castledawson Roundabout 10pm Friday 22 November - 6am Monday 25 November 2019
    To facilitate final surfacing works on the A6 Mainline and switch traffic to one lane in each direction
  • Creagh Road temporary 2.5 week closure, to facilitate NIW connection works.
    Local access maintained via Black Park Road Diversion Route
  • Two -way traffic lights in place on A6 Mainline Hillhead Rd Junction from 9.30am - 4.30pm daily from Monday 25 Novemeber 2019 for 2 days
    To facilitate works on an NIW utilities connection.
