A6 Randalstown - Castledawson Dualling Scheme

Delivered by the Department for Infrastructure the A6 Dualling Scheme will upgrade 14.7 kilometres of  Transport Corridor between Randalstown and Castledawson, a route used by 18,000 vehicles each day, which often experiences congestion at key times.

Graham Farrans Joint Venture have been awarded the contract of this essential work, which once completed, will bring long term social and economic benefits to the local area.

The flagship investment of £160m will strengthen the links between Belfast and Derry/ Londonderry and will bring the long term benefits to road users and the local community of reduced journey times and improved road safety.

Work is being carried out on an area based construction programme and is expected to be completed by 2021.

  • The Bellshill Road (N) due to reopen 6am Thursday 20 June 2019
    The Bellshill Road (N) has been closed at the A6 Mainline junction for approx 2 weeks following a previous 14 week closure and is now due to reopen on 20 June 2019.
  • Annaghmore Road (N) Permanent Closure - 6am 20 June 2019
    The Annaghmore Road will be permanently closed to the A6 Mainline, with local access now being provided by the Bellshill Link Road.
  • Bellshill Road (S) Temporary Closure for 4 weeks beginning 6am Monday 24 June 2019
    To facilitate further works on the areas new link roads and new Bellshill Overbridge, Roundabout and Junction.
