Tree felling works taking place on the Castledawson Roundabout to make way for future works
Site Clearance works are planned to take place on the Castledawson Roundabout this week ahead of bird nesting season. Contractors Graham Farrans Joint Venture have carefully planned the tree felling works to take place before breeding season begins in March.
The clearance works are taking place as part of the A6 Dualling Scheme to make way for future works at the Castledawson Roundabout.
Weekend and Night Road Closures Between Toome and Castledawson
Work on the A6 Castledawson to Randalstown Dualling Scheme is progressing to programme. The latest construction activities required a series of weekend road closures that started in January 2018. The works have involved earthmoving directly adjacent to and across the existing carriageway to facilitate the permanent widening of the road over a 200 metre stretch from Moyola Bridge to just past the Brough Road.
Given the nature of this work, a road closure was absolutely necessary to help ensure the safety of road users and those carrying out the works. Weekend and night works have been progressing well and are currently running ahead of schedule. With the next set of planned closures taking place on;
• 10pm Friday 23 – 6am Monday 26 February
• 10pm Friday 2 – 6am Monday 5 March
• 10pm Friday 9 – 6am Monday 12 March
We would like to take the opportunity to thank local residents and road users for their patience and support during these works.
