Held every year, International Women’s Day (IWD) has taken place on March 8 for over 100 years and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The project team at the A6 Randalstown - Castledawson Dualling Scheme are taking the opportunity to celebrate the achievement's female site staff have made on the project and hope to educate and inspire younger generations to pursue an exciting career in construction.
Women make up around 14% of construction professionals and this number can only be set to rise. On the A6 Dualling Scheme a total of 23 women make up the Graham Farrans Joint Venture workforce, working in a diverse range of roles from Dumper Drivers to Engineers, Design Coordinators to Buyers, Environmental Managers to Accountants and Quantity Surveyors.
Recently the Graham Farrans Joint Venture have been visiting local schools to promote careers in construction and have been helping to inspire younger generations of girls to consider the construction industry for their career.
